By April Glover|

Meghan Markle has proved she is well and truly out of the royal fold with her latest career move.

The Duchess of Sussex returned to her roots with a new lifestyle venture, titled American Riviera Orchard, a project which is similar to her pre-royal brand, The Tig.

Meghan, 42, made the announcement with a quietly chic Instagram post, which told fans almost absolutely nothing จC aside from the name.?

She shared a 50-second video alongside the Instagram grid posts and followers were invited to join the waiting list for the website via email.

The page, which now boasts over 500,000 followers, hasn't been updated since the official launch on March 15.

But thanks to Meghan's previous career as a lifestyle guru and blogger, there's a lot we can expect from American Riviera Orchard.

The announcement came with a short video. (American Riviera Orchard: Montecito)

First of all, what does the name mean??

Well, it has a deep connection to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's home of Montecito.?

As we all know, the Sussexes like to pour their heart and soul into the names of their enterprises (Archewell is named after their son Archie, after all).

Santa Barbara, the county which Montecito is located in, is referred to as the American Riviera Orchard because its climate and geographic location are similar to places along the northern Mediterranean Sea coast, which is known as the Riviera.

Meghan was born in America and when Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior working royals, they moved back to her hometown.

What does American Riviera Orchard sell??

Unlike The Tig, which Meghan gave up in 2017 when she began dating Harry, American Riviera Orchard will sell products.

According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, where Meghan has filed a trademark for the brand, it will be related to the sales of goods, including tableware, decanters, napkin rings, cookbooks and soaps.

Edible products which will be available through Meghan's website include jellies, jams, marmalades, oils, spreads and preserves.

Reports claim the brand will focus mostly on home food, garden and lifestyle products.

In another international registration filing, it was noted the brand will also sell stationary, yoga mats, ornaments and pet products.

While The Tig was focussed on travel, lifestyle tips and recipes, it's believed Meghan's new venture will be more family-focussed.

Some reports have also claimed Meghan may sell body lotions and makeup too.

Royal editor and author Omid Scobie told Harper's Bazaar that a source close to the Sussex family noted it would be: "something more accessible?กญ?something rooted in her love of details, curating, hosting, life's simple pleasures, and family."

What role will Meghan Markle play in American Riviera Orchard?

According to British Vogue, Meghan also made a very subtle move toward rebranding her own look alongside her lifestyle venture.

The Duchess of Sussex has reportedly hired a new stylist, Jamie Mizrahi, to help transform her look.

Mizrahi is a top-tier stylist who has worked with the likes of Adele, Nicole Richie and Ariana Grande.

Her appointment has led Vogue to speculate about how Meghan wants to position her brand: quiet luxury with a down-to-earth twist.

As for Meghan's role within the company, aside from being founder, it's likely Meghan will help run things from her home in Montecito and have a hands-on approach จC much like how she handled The Tig.

It's unknown if Meghan plans to hire staff for the site or if she will look for a CEO to help run things.
