Sarah Ferguson praises Princess of Wales for coming forward with cancer diagnosis

S?arah Ferguson has shared some kind words for the Princess of Wales in the wake of her cancer diagnosis being made public.

"All my thoughts and prayers are with the Princess of Wales as she starts her treatment," the 64-year-old Duchess of York wrote in a statement shared to her official Instagram page this morning.

?"I know she will be surrounded by the love of her family and everyone is praying for the best outcome."

The duchess จC who split from the disgraced Duke of York in 1992, with their divorce being finalised in 1996 จC ?is no stranger to cancer.

In January, she confirmed she had been diagnosed with skin cancer จC her second cancer diagnosis in a year.

"Following her diagnosis with an early form of breast cancer this summer, Sarah, Duchess of York, has now been diagnosed with malignant melanoma,"? a spokesperson for Ferguson said in a statement to multiple media outlets in January.

"Her dermatologist asked that several moles were removed and analysed at the same time as the Duchess was undergoing reconstructive surgery following her mastectomy, and one of these has been identified as cancerous," the statement continued.

"Clearly, another diagnosis so soon after treatment for breast cancer has been distressing but the Duchess remains in good spirits."

Months earlier, Ferguson had undergone a mastectomy after being ?diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer in June 2023, which she later said in December she had "beat".

"As someone who has faced their own battles with cancer in recent months, I am full of admiration for the way she has spoken publicly about her diagnosis and know it will do a tremendous amount of good to raise awareness," Ferguson's public message to Catherine continued.

"I hope she will now be given the time, space and privacy to heal."

Over the weekend, Catherine, 42, confirmed she ?had been diagnosed with cancer in a personal video message released by Kensington Palace. It came following weeks of speculation and controversy surrounding the true state of Catherine's health.

"In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous," Catherine said in her video.

?"The surgery was successful, however, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.

"My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I'm now in the early stages of that treatment."

Catherine, who is expected to return to her "official duties" when she has been cleared by her doctors, has since flown to ?Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

She is expected to spend the Easter school holidays at the country home ?จC which is located on Sandringham Estate จC with Prince William and their three children: Prince George, ?10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five.

As a result, the Prince and Princess of Wales will miss the family's annual Easter Sunday church service, which is held at Windsor.?
