Speaking to a range of people ¡ª from faces you know to faces you will want to know ¡ª we tear away the fa?ade of make-up and social media and bring things back to basics with realistic 'I woke up like this' selfies and morning routines.
Today, we're 'waking up' with Celebrity Apprentice star, writer and comedian Jean Kittson.
What time do you wake up?
After 20 years of school runs, my natural inclination would be around 11am, but even though my kids are adults I have chooks and a dog. And, if I am lucky, a job.
So, I am up between 6:30 and 8:30am. Depending on the chooks, the dog and the job.
How many alarms do you set?
I only set one alarm. It is a high-decibel "whoop whoop" siren that would cause eardrum damage if I didn't wear earplugs and is so terrifying that I panic, evacuate the bed immediately, and dive underneath it.
Tea or coffee?
Coffee. Two double shots, just in case my alarm and cold shower haven't injected enough adrenaline into my nervous system.
TV or radio, podcast or silence?
I do swing between classic music and either talkback or news radio or morning TV to remind me it's a big bad world out there and I might want to engage and connect and have a take on it all... or dive back under the bed.
Mostly classic FM to remove me from reality and get those neurons inventing their own soothing stories.
What do you eat for breakfast?
I don't always have breakfast but if I do, I always have breakfast in bed. It gives me a chance to de- stress after my alarm. Toast, on the dark side, lots of butter and a scrape of red jam.
How long does it take you to get out the door?
An hour and half with breakfast, 15 minutes without.
Any unusual morning rituals or habits?
I have a cold shower. Always. Summer and winter. That way there are already two challenging things I have achieved in my day. Two obstacles I have overcome; getting out of bed, tick, and having a gruelling cold shower. Tick.
What's the one thing you never have time for in the morning?
What's the one thing you always do in the morning?
Let out the chooks and feed the dog. I know, that's two things but one overall livestock theme.
