Queen Camilla makes first appearance after Easter break

Queen Camilla has returned to work following her Easter break, hosting a roundtable on issue that is at the heart of much of her work.

Camilla, 76, led the discussion about domestic abuse at Buckingham Palace as part of her patronage for SafeLives.

The nationwide scheme aims to end domestic abuse by raising awareness and promoting healthy relationships.

This roundtable discussion was attended by young changemakers aged 15 to 20.

SafeLives has been hosting pop up events at schools to help those impacted by domestic abuse.

One changemaker, Maya, 20, told Camilla they had been campaigning to parliament for change to the national academic guideline in the UK.

"Children need to feel less alone and feel stronger," she told the queen, as reported by HELLO!

"Part of our work is about reach and that's why we took our campaign to Parliament.

"We met Gillian Keegan and discussed ways they are trying to change the curriculum, it's absolutely vital we can make changes."

The Queen told Maya she is "the same age as my granddaughter."

?Camilla is grandmother to two children, Lola, 16, and Frederik, 13, the children of her son Tom Parker Bowles; and Eliza, 16, and 14-year-old twins Gus and Louis, the children of her daughter Laura Lopes.

Images of the queen's visit have been shared on the royal family's official social media accounts.

"As Patron of @SafeLives_, The Queen has joined a discussion with Changemakers, young pioneers of the charity, at Buckingham Palace.SafeLives recognises children and young people as victims in their own right - with those aged 13-17 experiencing some of the highest rates of domestic abuse," the post read.

"The young group assist in guiding the charity's response to issues facing young people, with a particular focus on exploring and promoting healthy relationships," it continued.

"One of the key priorities for the Changemakers over the next year is to ensure that the voices of children and young people are heard and accounted for in the design, development and delivery of domestic abuse responses.?"

Queen Camilla has stepped up her royal duties amid King Charles and the Princess of Wales' cancer battles.

Charles was last seen attending Easter Sunday service in Windsor with members of the royal family including Queen Camilla, Queen Anne and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

The Princess of Wales is with her family, Prince William and their three children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight and Prince Louis, five, at the family's home, Amner Hall on Sandringham Estate.
