Princess Anne attends 30th anniversary event for carers centre she opened in 1994

P?rincess Anne returned to a UK centre she first opened in 1994 for a special milestone.

The royal, who is President of the Carers Trust, joined staff at the Sefton Carers Centre in ?Merseyside for their 30th anniversary event this week.

The princess was pictured ?wearing a red coat to the celebration where she reportedly "spoke to every carer directly".

"We felt like she really wanted to be here and that she really genuinely cared about what we were talking about," Kellie Smith, a carer, told BBC.

Another carer added Princess Anne "listened to each of us, hearing how unique each of our journeys have been and how what we do does really make a difference to the lives of our loved ones."

"Her graciousness and acknowledgement of the work we do was truly inspiring."

Princess Anne first founded the The Princess Royal Trust For Carers in 1991 and was later named President of the Carers Trust in 2012.

Nearly a decade later, she ?launched The Princess Royal Respite Fund For Carers? to support unpaid carers and provide them respite breaks.

"As President of Carers Trust, I am delighted with this new initiative. It will raise funds for something I know to be incredibly important for carers จC being able to take a break," she wrote in an official statement at the time.

In 2020, Princess Anne joined her late mother Queen Elizabeth II on a video chat with carers across the country to mark Carers Week that year.

Alongside her decades long dedicated to supporting carers, ?Princess Anne has a history of charitable involvement and is said to be associated with more than 300 charities.

In 2023, she was even named the hardest-working member of the British royal family.?

Over the years she has established animal welfare charities, veterans' charities, equine charities and has notably been President of Save the Children since 1970.

Earlier this year in January, the princess travelled to South East Asia? with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence by her side.

On what marked the first royal family trip for 2024, Princess Anne unveiled a plaque commemorating the 50th anniversary of Save the Children working in Sri Lanka.
