Prince Harry confirms return to the UK for Invictus Games anniversary event

Prince Harry has confirmed he will return to the UK to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.

This will be the Duke of Sussex's first official visit to his home country since the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla in May 2023.

Harry, 39, did fly home for a visit with his father in early February following King Charles' cancer diagnosis.

It isn't known if the Duchess of Sussex and the couple's two children will join the royal, although it is hoped Meghan, Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two, will travel to the UK for the occasion.

A spokesman for the Invictus Games confirmed only Harry's attendance to media.

The 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games will be celebrated with a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's ?Cathedral in London on May 8. Prince Harry is expected to give a reading during the ceremony and will reportedly be joined by Billions actor Damien Lewis who will recite a poem.

The service has been advertised as "marking a decade of changing lives and saving lives through sport".

Other guests will include competitors from the participating nations including wounded veterans and support staff.

The service will be led by The Very Reverend Andrew Tremlett, Dean of St Paul's.

It isn't known if any members of the royal family will join Prince Harry for the special event although there has been speculation the anniversary may serve as an opportunity for key royals to reconnect.

Buckingham Palace has not confirmed any plans for working members of the monarchy to join Harry for the occasion.

King Charles announced his return to public facing duties his week as he continues cancer treatment, although it isn't known if that will include his youngest son's event.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are not expected to attend as Catherine undergoes her own cancer treatment.?

He must give 28 days notice of his intention to visit the UK upon which the Home Office will assess his security needs.

It is expected Prince Harry will stay in a hotel during the trip as he must make a formal request to use Frogmore Cottage, his former UK residence.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 earlier this year.
