According to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website, there is a policy titled "Renunciation of Title or Order of Nobility" that would require the Duke of Sussex to renounce his title before gaining American citizenship.

"Any applicant who has any titles of heredity or positions of nobility in any foreign state must renounce the title or the position," it said in the policy, listed under the "Oath of Allegiance" section.

"The applicant must expressly renounce the title in a public ceremony and USCIS must record the renunciation as part of the proceedings."

"Failure to renounce the title of position" could be considered a "lack of attachment" to the US Constitution, the policy states.

Myers pointed out the ways the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have attempted to maintain ties with the royal family, including ?their children being known as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as well as their royal rebrand featuring their royal crest?.

He says these moves are a way for Harry to? "see a way back for himself within the royal family, that he is willing to sort of make himself available whilst the king is sitting on the sidelines having his cancer treatment."
