"After Catherine, Princess of Wales, disclosed her cancer diagnosis, more Australians turned to trusted sources for cancer information, with more than one and half times our usual number of page visits to cancer.org.au," she said.

Buchanan shared that similar website performance was observed when the Royal Palace announced news of King Charles III's cancer diagnosis in February.

"Similarly, when King Charles shared his cancer diagnosis, our website received a similar increase in the average visits," she added.?

The Cancer Council is the leading cancer charity in Australia and, according to Buchanan, receives almost 6 million online visits and more than 40,000 calls from people seeking cancer information and support.?

The charity and others across Australia are dedicated to supporting those affected by cancer.?

"Every day we are working to help reduce the physical, emotional and financial burden of cancer on the lives of all Australians," Buchanan said.?

"Supporting people affected by cancer is at the heart of everything we do. When people get cancer information and support when they need it, they have the best chance of following a pathway that supports the delivery of optimal cancer care and coping with treatment, recovery, survivorship or end-of-life care."

This trend was also observed in the Princess of Wales' hometown with People reporting that leading UK cancer Charity, Macmillan Cancer Support observed the highest weekend of website traffic since March 2020.?
