'My first love': Mum mocked for naming son after character from teen drama

Many parents have named babies in tribute to someone important in their life.
Be it a grandparent or great-aunt they wish to honour, it's not uncommon to look for a name with added meaning.
But what if that inspiration is taken from a mid-2000s teen drama, and the baby is named in honour of a character whose awkward shenanigans' were watched by almost 10 million people worldwide?
For Canadian mum Emily Colborne, there was only one person she wanted to name her nine-month-old son after: Seth Cohen, the good-natured, slightly dorky character from The OC that made Adam Brody famous.

Explaining the inspiration behind the name, the superfan and mum-of-three revealed that Seth was her 'first love'. In a follow-up video even admitted her husband was very similar to him.
"My husband wasn't on board, but then I found out I was having twins so I got full control over one name haha," she said in the comments, with several people critcising her baby name choice.
The couple also share Cohen's twin brother Mason, and their older brother Atlas, three. ?
After her reveal, Colborne triggered a string of confessions from other mums sharing who they had named their offspring after, with teen dramas proving a popular choice. ?
"Glad to know I am not alone in doing this. People told me I was crazy," commented one.
"I nearly named my boy Cohen. But some family made fun of it so I scrapped it," said another.

While there were many babies named after One Tree Hill and Zoey 101, mums of older kids showed the trend was also big in the '90s.?
"I have a Zoey from 'Zoey 101' and Hannah from 'Hannah Montana,'" one mum confessed.
"Named mine after original 90210 character," revealed another oman, with another replying her sons were Brandon and Dylan after the show.
Others also looked to The OC. "My sister and I got to name my little brother and we named him Seth Ryan!?," one said, Ryan being another central character on the show. "Iconic!", Emily replied.
"?My 16-year-old daughter would have been Cohen if she were a boy. Instead she's Emma. From Friends lol," revealed another.

Even reality TV got a nod. "Son is named Brody after The Hills Brody Jenner," shared one.
In follow-up videos, Emily shares that Seth Cohen was her 'first love' and says the show influenced her life decisions.
That includes her 'taste in men', her music taste - which included all the indie favourites featured on the show, her passion for the environment and even an ear piercing she once sported.
