The surprise baby names set to be extinct by 2023: Sorry to all the Gregs

While names like Oliver and Charlotte won't be disappearing anytime soon, we're not likely to meet any more babies named Greg or Carolyn.
According to a new analysis of baby name trends, there are 80 names set to go extinct by next year. Meaning less than three babies are given those names in a year.
And they're not all what you'd expect.

While some are very much snapshots of when their popularity peaked กช such as Debra, which was at its most popular in 1951, others are still commonly heard today, like Elija.
Other names looking to go the way of the dinosaurs include Gladys, Billie, Chandler, Greg, Neville and Walt. Carolyn and Meryl also made the list, as did Zachery and Evaleigh.
Although the team at Vitaonics, who compiled the list, said it's the unique spelling of some names that may have fallen out of fashion, rather than the names themselves.?
There were a few that are, let's say... unique and which aren't such a surprise inclusion, like Pixi and Loxley for girls, or Kennie or Elbert for boys.

But few would have predicted Brad or Brent to be listed, not Jackie or Teigen.
The company also assessed naming data, looking at trends between 1996-2022, to predict the the ones we'll be seeing a lot more of come next year. And found celebrity's kids' names have a big influence on the monikers the rest of us choose for our babies.?
Harper, for example, is expected to be the second fastest growing name trend, attributed to David and Victoria Beckham's daughter. While Luna is tipped to be the third, which Chrissy Teigen and John Legend named their eldest child.
Nature is also set to be a big influence in coming years, with Ivy anticipated to be the hottest name of 2023, having jumped 221 places in the last ten years.?

It seems many parents-to-be are also reality TV fans, with Tommy and Teddy, names which have both appeared on Love Island (UK) set to be amongst the predicted top boys names.
Theodore, Arlo and Roman were also expected to rank highly.?
