What not to do around a Guide Dog and their handler, Dr Katrina Warren explains

Dr Katrina Warren has shared some basic tips around Guide Dog etiquette, after a recent survey by Guide Dogs Australia found too many Aussies don't know how to behave around the dogs and their handlers.

When it comes to keeping both a Guide Dog and their handler safe it's important to remember a few rules.?

"If you see a Guide Dog, ?do not touch or pat them," 9Honey Pets expert Warren explains.

"Do not offer them food or treats and do not try to distract them in any way," she adds.

You can tell a Guide Dog is 'working' whenever they are wearing their harness. ?

As Warren explains, if you have your own dog with you, it's extremely important to keep it away from the Guide Dog.?

"Make sure it is on a lead and give the Guide Dog ?some decent space," she says.

There are also important guidelines to follow when wanting to interact with the ?handler or if you are concerned they may need help.
