Kids on flights aren't fun - for anyone.

As hard as it is for fellow commuters to have to listen to their screaming or impatience and need to move around, it's just as difficult for the parents trying to keep them in check.

Unless that parent has totally checked out and is indifferent to any slips in behaviour from their child. ?It's the experience one woman faced after sharing a flight with a mum and a preschooler.

On a flight from Texas to Los Angeles, the 21-year-old, who shared her experience on Reddit, said all was going well until 20 minutes into the three-hour flight.

"Her child started standing up on the seat and stomping while mildly screaming. All this while the mum's nose was in her phone the whole time," she wrote.

"I tried to make eye contact with her as a way to inform her that her child is not behaving. And she refused to look up from her phone."

When the screaming continued, the woman decided to confront the mum, tapping her on the shoulder and telling her to 'watch her child' and tell him to sit down.

?Her reaction, however, left her flabbergasted. ?

"She gave me a dirty look and told me to mind my own business," she wrote.

Asking if she was wrong to confront the mum, those on Reddit told her she was very much in the right. Many argued that a difficult child is one thing, but parents refusing to do anything about them was another. ?

"Parents that can't control their kids shouldn't travel with them," said one.

"I would have asked the kid to stop screaming, if mum didn't like it then I would have said something to her about having to do it since she hadn't, but I'm guessing she was so checked out she wouldn't care she only cared someone was telling her what to do," another said.

While another person, who said they were a mum themselves, said they wouldn't be comfortable letting their child disturb other passengers.

"Yes, I desperately need some quiet time too, but not at the cost of someone else and especially not in a public space and additionally make a fuss about it," they said.

"As a mum, I would be mortified if my child acted like that. I don't know how she wasn't embarrassed," agreed another.
