'Grateful to have been there for my daughter's first steps': Tom Steinfort's sweet post after paternity leave

Tom Steinfort has expressed his gratitude at having enjoyed three months of paternity leave to spend time with his daughter Frederikke.

"Three months paternity leave done in what felt like three minutes!" the Nine journalist wrote on Instagram.

"I'm very lucky to have an employer with such a supportive program for new mums and dadsกญthey didn't ask me to talk them up, I'm just grateful to have been there for my daughter's first steps, first birthday, first Santa photo, first swim lessons, and about 374 more trips to the beach together."

Steinfort shared several photos and a video to go along with the post, including one in which ?Frederikke takes some steps.

In the video, we see the presenter holding his daughter in front of a mirror.

Frederikke sees her reflection and wobbles her way towards the mirror, doing her dad proud.

The 60 Minutes reporter and wife Claudia Juki? welcomed their first child in November 2021.

At the time he shared: "Our gorgeous girl, Frederikke. Born yesterday - mum was amazing, Freddie is too beautiful for words, and dad cried more than the baby."

Since then Steinfort has posted photos of special moments with his daughter including ?Frederikk's first trip to the beach as well as her christening.

Steinfort was able to schedule his three-month paternity leave over the holidays ahead of his return to work in 2023.

Steinfort has enjoyed an incredible career at Nine including stints on Today and a permanent role on 60 Minutes.

In 2021 he spoke with Ukraine president ?Volodymyr Zelenskyy, an interview for which he won the Outstanding Foreign Correspondent Award at the Kennedy Awards.

He also hosted top-rating podcast Liar, Liar: Melissa Caddick and the Missing Millions, alongside Nine investigative journalist Kate McClymont,? which surpassed one million downloads.
