Toddlers are naturally drawn to dangerous things.
The more unsafe something looks (hello, power points), the harder it is to distract them from it.
So it was for one mum, whose ?toddler son has become obsessed with... miniature fans.
But the crafty mum devised an ingenious solution, and with a few household items, created a safe way to indulge his unusual interest.
"Mummy craft time! My toddler is obsessed with the Vornado fan, which he (naturally) isn't allowed to touch," she captioned a photo on Instagram of her son playing with the finished product.
"So I decided to make him his own with three takeout containers, a lid, and a piece of packing styrofoam!"
Using a hot glue gun to stick it together and wrapping the foam with black tape to cover the white of the styrofoam, she then printed out a picture of a fan to stick inside and as she said... ?"voil¨¤!"
It's so far passed the test, and her toddler can be seen happily playing with this like it was the toy of his dreams.?
And at least the mum saw the funny side of his obsession, saying it was: "safe for my weirdo kid to carry? around."
Many were impressed with her inventive solution.
"Amazing. Toddlers are so weird," said one. "By golly, it looks real!!!!?," agreed another.
One little boy's secret teasure trove has been revealed when he was getting his cast cut off.
The four-year-old was filmed in a TikTok by his mum, Macayla, getting a cast taken off his arm which he had previously broken.
"My four-year-old's cast removal revealed his secret collection!," wrote the mum from New Zealand. "A cheeky little monkey."
As the doctor peels the cast off the boy's arm he finds a tiny little monkey stuck to the inside of the cast.
"Fancy that!" the doctor laughs.
But that's not all the young boy was stashing away in his cast.
About "five dollars worth of coins" and two 'instant win' McDonald's Monopoly stickers also fall out as the doctor continues to peel the cast off.?
"Mum's going to be rich!" the doctor joked again.
The young boy's mother can be heard laughing in disbelief in the background.
"It is like a little time capsule lol," one commenter wrote.
"This is too adorable," declared another
People loved the heartwarming clip, with many reminiscing about the weird and wonderful things they used to hide away as kids.
"A penny dropped down my cast on my leg and I reached down to itch my leg and pulled it out. When I got the cast off I had a green circle," one user said.?
"Mine was just full of broken rulers and pen caps," laughed another.
Two-year-old Cooper can barely contain his excitement when his mum brings out the leaf blower.
His joy over the everyday garden tool is absolutely infectious. ?
Mum Kelsey Susan Lee shared the gorgeous video to TikTok and it quickly went viral.
"When life gets you down, watch this video," she declared in the clip.? "I can't handle his excitement. Who knew a leaf blower would make his day?"
"He is so cute!," gushed one person. "He truly enjoyed that. I love seeing a kid living his best life and just having fun. Thank you for this. It made me smile."
"Who needs expensive toys," commented another.
"True joy!", said a third.
"The best fun is free," concluded a fourth.
"He literally didn't want me to stop doing it," responded proud mum Kelsey.
Ah, school photos. You can get your child a haircut, iron their clothes and wipe their face clean moments before they walk out the door.
Yet still you are surprised by something unexpected when you the pictures come home - just ask this mum.
"My son really loves vacuums. Reeeeeeeally loves them," she wrote when posting on the Awkward Family Photos Instagram page.
"On preschool picture day, he was so miserable, and was offered the preschool's vacuum cleaner to play with to cheer him up before his photo.
"When I picked him up, I was told that I might see a 'bit' of the vacuum in the photo."
To the photographer's credit, they do appear to have worked hard to get a shot where the vacuum-loving toddler was not actually touching the machine.
Not doubt the image of the boy and his 'best friend' will provide the family with a few laughs in years to come.

Brittany Beard never expected her daughter Briar, three, would find her new favourite doll in a Halloween store.
But the little girl insisted not only on her mum buying the doll - who Britanny has coined 'Creepy Chloe', but on taking her along on all their outings since.
Taking to Facebook to share photos of Briar and Chloe's adventures, Brittany said she's equally amused and horrified by the obsession.
"She said, 'But I'm it's mummy and it needs me!'. Briar named the doll, Chloe and I then immediately nicknamed her Creepy Chloe. I'm pretty sure Creepy Chloe is stealing my soul when I sleep," she joked.
Spare a thought for one mum whose toddler has taken to carrying her tampon applicator everywhere he goes.
Calling it his 'key', the mum shared a video to TikTok of the little boy happily bringing the applicator on outings, in the car and at playing with it at the supermarket.
"Tampon applicator. He calls it his key. It's currently going everywhere with us. I promise it was brand new and not used!," she wrote in the video.
While this one may seem innocuous, this little boy's obsession was next level.
Sharing on Instagram, mum Brittany explained her son had even asked that the family attend services, which he was enjoying.
"This is Benedykt. He LOVES churches. Many two-year-olds have some kind of obsession at this age, e.g. dinosaurs, vehicles... but Benedykt is really interested in the classic church buildings."
The toddler even kept a diary full of photos of the churches he'd visited, had church figurines and even themed clothes.
While most adults begrudge the rubbish truck's arrival for waking them so early, one little boy is so obsessed he not only waits by the window for it, he has his very own garbage bin to bring along for his weekly viewing.
This is a polarising obsession - kids will either go crazy for the car wash or be terrified. For little Ollie, it was love at first wash.
"Ollie recently discovered a kids' show on YouTube called Carl's Car Wash. So naturally, he's now obsessed with driving through the car wash. Frequently," an Instagram post explained.
It's something most of us would pass without a second glance - if we even noticed it.
But for this little girl, it's the highlight of her walk.
One mum who has decided to roll with her kids obsessions is Kelly Ray, sharing how one of her son's went through a period of taking his tennis racquet with him everywhere, using for everything but playing tennis.
"This week's obsession is the tennis racquet. We have slept with it, carried it through the grocery store, played guitar with it, and used it most efficiently as weapon that pretend shots and can take down anyone in it's path," she captioned the photo.
"And no, it has never touched a tennis ball."
This is one most parents could get behind - spray bottles.
Who wouldn't want another pair of (albeit tiny) hands ready and willing to help clean.
For this toddler, according to his mum who shared his love of cleaning on Instagram, the spray bottle was tall he wanted to play with.
"Current favourite thing to do - clean! He asks for his spray when he wakes up in the morning and as soon as we get home in the evening! He keeps asking 'What me clean now Mommy?'," she shared.
Another cleaning obsessed toddler. While this little guy is clearly enamored with his parents' robot vacuum, we're not sure how much cleaning is actually getting done when he's playing with it.
Proving that toddlers can becomes obsessed with literally anything, one mum shared that her freezer inspired an unlikely new favourite toy.
"That would be a couple of ice packs he's holding. It's the new thing. He must eat with them. Sleep with them. You know the drill, right mama?," she shared.
Reminding us some obsessions take more effort than others, this parent shared how their child would happily follow the postman on their entire round, if permitted.
"This kid literally just made me stalk our mailman around our entire block during our walk. Then he got mad at me when I wouldn't let him follow him to the next neighbourhood," wrote one exasperated parent on Instagram.
Essential yet Practical... This little box of 'sweets' has kept her busy all day.
And who could forget little Parker, who went viral last year after her mum kourtni Eckstein shared videos on TikTok of the toddler taking her beloved zombie doll with her everywhere, even to bed.
