Shock find during routine ultrasound: 'Are you serious?'

A woman in the US has recalled her shock when she discovered she was experiencing a rare superfetation pregnancy ¨C when you conceive while already pregnant.

Dee Michelle from Pennsylvania was expecting a child with ?fianc¨¦ Antonio Livingston when she says they shared a night of "careless" passion in July of 2020, not realising an additional pregnancy was possible.

It was during her next ultrasound that the sonographer found not one heartbeat but a second and then a third.

"We were very shocked when we found out the news," Michelle told 9Honey.

"I knew after that our lives would never be the same."

The three children were born on the same day, one minute apart.

?"My original baby was six to seven days older than the twins that came after her," Michelle explains.

"That's how much older she measured throughout the entire pregnancy."

The proud mum shared her story of a "double pregnancy" on TikTok. In a new video, we see the couple being told about the additional pregnancy during the ultrasound.

"I didn't know it was triplets at the time," she tells viewers before the footage of the ultrasound during which they were told it was "officially triplets" is played.

"I'm probably gonna have to do a whole entire story time about my pregnancy? just so you guys are clear... it's a lot to unpack," she continues. "So if you guys want to see that, comment down below."

"Yes please," one of her followers said.

"Wait so you became pregnant with two more babies while you were pregnant with one? I am speechless," another commented.

"Would definitely want that story time," another said.?

In the ultrasound footage we see the sonographer carefully pointing out three separate babies including three heartbeats as the shocked couple struggle to take in the news.?

Michelle told the New York Post she burst out crying upon hearing the news.

"I was like, 'Are you serious?'" Michelle explained.

"I had to see it with my own two eyes. And, sure enough, there were three babies [on the ultrasound]."

She and Livingston were not aware their situation was possible.?

"I found out I was pregnant and figured I [couldn't] get pregnant again," she said.

The first sign of the additional pregnancy was pain which led her to conclude she was having a miscarriage.?

"But come to find out, my uterus was growing so fast because there were two more babies," she said.

"If it happened to me, it could happen to anybody."

?The couple would welcome three daughters from the double pregnancy, and have since added a son to their brood.

While sharing her story Michelle warns others of the possibility of a superfetation pregnancy, telling them to "be careful."

"And don't be surprised if it happens to you."
