By Heidi Krause|

The internet has erupted after ?a man revealed his pregnant wife was forced to 'get down on her hands and knees' and clean up after her kids on an airplane.

Professional baseball player, ?Anthony Bass, took to Twitter to report the incident, which has since triggered a heated discussion about plane etiquette and parental responsibility.

"The flight attendant @united just made my 22-week pregnant wife traveling with a five-year-old and two-year-old get on her hands and knees to pick up the popcorn mess by my youngest daughter," Bass wrote, clearly outraged. "Are you kidding me?!?!"

Bass shared a photo of his two young children sitting in seats on their iPads with popcorn scattered on the floor beneath them.

The tweet quickly went viral, and has since amassed more than 36.5 million views and 7,000 likes.

However, instead of an outpouring of support the 35-year-old dad was clearly expecting, many people called him out for being 'entitled'.

"Genuinely curious who should clean up the mess your two-year-old made? As a parent of three kids, I am the one responsible for them," said one.

"22 weeks? I would have picked up my child's mess at 32 weeks without being told. Sir, your wife will be fine."

"I have three kids, just flew economy 12 hours, and was able to clean up after them - for every mess. It's called parenting," said a third.

"Commercial airlines are not your children's playground," said another. "Pick it up and take responsibility for your kids."

"Entitlement is just screaming at me," declared a fifth.

A few people chimed in with support for the baseball player.

"I think it's disgusting that the stewardess made a pregnant woman clean up a mess if they're going to supply popcorn on the airplane be ready for messes to clean up if you don't like it, don't serve popcorn," said one.

'This does feel wrong. No one ever expects a family to clean the floor in a restaurant when kids make a mess," commented another.

Bass, who is originally from the US but plays for the Toronto Blue Jays,? is married to Sydney Rae Bass, who happens to be US country singer and reality star Jessie James Decker's sister. ?

Decker has also spoken out about her sister's treatment on the flight, claiming she was "humiliated", as reported by PEOPLE.

"My poor sister is on her hands and knees, crying in the aisle, completely humiliated and exhausted, with her children while everyone else watched. Way to go, United," she wrote on an Instagram story which has since expired.

Opening up further about the incident, she said her sister had 'texted her' from the United flight.?

"As you know, she is five months pregnant, high-risk, and also traveling alone with her two small children," she said.

"Blaire accidentally spilled some popcorn in the aisle, and the flight attendant came up to Sydney with a trash bag and a wet wipe, telling her the captain wants Syd to clean up every drop.

Meanwhile, Bass updated his fans and followers that the matter had seemingly been resolved. ?

Alongside the photo Decker commented: "The popcorn hazard?".
