Pregnant woman outraged after not being invited to own baby shower

By Naomi White|

A woman was left outraged after finding out her boyfriend's family threw a baby shower she wasn't invited to.

The 31-year-old explained that she had been with her partner for four years, however they lived separately as she is also mum to a six-year-old son.

A few weeks before their baby was due, his aunt decided to throw a baby shower, telling the mum it was to be "men only". While she wasn't happy at being excluded, she was livid when she found out that not only was her partner's mother invited, his aunt and his female cousin also attended.

"I was carrying the baby and I wasn't allowed to be there," she explained on Reddit. "All my boyfriend said to me that 'It was out of his control'. I feel like he should've stood up for me and said that it didn't sound fair, that it should be a baby shower for the both of us.'

"Every baby shower I had been to always had both parents."

She also said that her boyfriend had not attended many of their pregnancy appointments, and hardly deserved a party for being 'father of the year'. ?

However, what really irked her was that her son was also left out, despite being their baby's sibling, and being a boy, so technically fit the guest list. ?

"Maybe this would make sense if we weren't together. He tells me that the baby shower wasn't out of spite. That it was supposed to be guys only, with the exception of his mother, aunt and the cousin. Yet, I'm the mother?"

"I did say it made me feel like I was a surrogate, yet surrogates still get treated better than that. I do feel like the baby shower was for him and his mum. I do feel like I'm the baby mama that they all hate."

Many on Reddit felt outraged for the mum, saying her partner was as much to blame as his aunt in this.?

"?Yikes. I wish you weren't linked to this man for the rest of your life, because he's married to his mum, and you're the other woman," said one.

"I've read some stuff here but this one is really something," added another. "Baby shower was 1000000 per cent out of spite, they are making sure you know your place in that family," agreed a third.

Other people felt it was a red flag and she should rethink her relationship.

"YTA (You're the a--hole) for having a child with this man who doesn't respect you at all, have fun co-parenting with his family for the rest of your life?," said one.
