Outrage after mum turns to Facebook to find free babysitting for sick kids

By Nikolina Koevska Kharoufeh |

A? mum in the US has been labelled a 'terrible parent' after turning to Facebook to find a last-minute babysitter for her sick kids, just so she could go grocery shopping.

The mum, who remains anonymous, was called out on a post she wrote to a local community page, outlining her need for someone to watch her two daughters who were ill and vomiting with a highly-contagious virus.

"It would have to be for free?, since I'll only be gone for six hours," the post read, leaving parents so concerned that they felt the need to call the police.

The post, which was shared as a screenshot to Reddit started with "I need to shop for some toiletries/groceries at Walmart today. But my precious five-year-old and three-year-old daughters have norovirus so they can't go with me."

Norovirus is a highly contagious virus that causes gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, nausea and stomach pain. It can last over 48 hours and is known to spread quickly in households.

There is currently a spike of the virus in the US

Despite knowing this, the mum proceeded to then ask the group whether there was anyone willing to take care of the kids while she ran the errand completely dismissing the wellbeing of the babysitter.

?Adding to her wild request the mum noted that the babysitting would not be compensated, asking someone to watch them for free as it was only for a short amount of time.

And the demands didn't stop there.

She also ?instructed the potential sitter to ensure no mess was left in the house while she was gone, "Just make sure they puke in the bucket or toilet only,"

As expected, the post shocked the group members and the mum was called out for her lack of responsibility and ridiculous plea.

"I'd like to help but I would rather not endanger my heath for free," one person commented. "This is ridiculous."

Another joked, "You know what, I actually like being thrown up on. I volunteer as tribute."

One parent was so concerned that they called the authorities on the woman, "I informed the police about this post?. You are a terrible parent."

After the post was shared to Reddit hundreds of people continued to call out the woman and question her ?ability to parent.

"Is this lady not aware that it's the 2020s and you can get literally anything delivered to your door? Seems like she's trying to go have fun somewhere else and use shopping as an excuse."
