Mum calls out 'daddy privilege' after husband praised for shopping

By 9Honey Parenting|

Mums everywhere will be nodding their heads along in agreement as they watch this video of US bakery owner and mum Chloe Sexton calling out what she calls 'daddy privilege'.

Sexton, who posts on TikTok under @chloebluffcakes, tells how she usually shops for a huge amount of bakery supplies each week with her baby in tow and nobody at the store takes much notice.

Holding her baby boy Theodore on her hip, Sexton explains her business requires her to buy "400 pounds of flour and 100 pounds of butter" at a time. She does so each week "wearing" her baby and did the same when "massively pregnant".

Her shopping trips attract no attention from those around her. "Nothing to see here, just a woman doing woman things, busting her a**," Chloe says.

However recently her husband took their baby as he did the weekly shop for bakery supplies - and Sexton says the reaction he got at the store could not have been more different.

"When I tell you the way this man was treated like a hero. A HERO," Sexton says. "Mind you, those same people see me there every single week.

"But my husband wears the baby and he goes to the Restaurant Depot for mummy's business and it's: 'Oh my god, look at you! Oh my god. You work so hard."

Even Sexton's husband admitted the attention was "a little bit embarrassing." He told his wife one person even walked past him and said: "Oh my god, that's a whole a** baby."

Sexton finished the video with a statement mums everywhere will relate to. "He's not a hero. He's literally just a father, just a parent, doing the same s**t I do every week."
