The cheap and easy Kmart Halloween hack we didn't know we needed

I?n what has turned out to be the Halloween hack we never knew we needed, a new clip has shown how a few dollars and common household items can transform your house into a spooky wonderland.

The "amazing" video, shared by influencer and mum 'Mrs Gordon, has revealed how a Kmart witches' hat, some removable hooks and string can be transformed into spooky, floating decorations that appear to be levitating.

"WHAT!!! Stop! Doing this tomorrow," said one follower. "?So creative!" agreed another.

But it was her 'Halloween Tree' that really made a strong impression on parents everywhere. After Kmart Australia shared the clip, many people praised the ingenious idea, vowing to follow suit.

"The Halloween tree is AMAZING! Way to go getting that tree up early then you only have to switch the decorations out for Christmas! LOVE IT," said one. "This is epic."

"Amazing I need a Halloween tree too," agreed another. "Omg! This is incredible!"

Haven't heard of a Halloween tree? Much like Christmas trees, they're adorned with spooky decorations กช think pumpkins, skulls and spider webs.?

The idea is to put your Christmas tree up early, then simply swap over the decorations once the spooky season is done and dusted.

The creative mum also showed off her 'Halloween tree', which impressed many of her followers. (Instagram)

But while Christmas trees started as a Christian tradition symbolising the resurrection of Christ?, these are purely and unapologetically decorative.

And they're growing in popularity. A quick search of Instagram reveals hundreds of repurposed Christmas trees making their Halloween debut this year.?

Just like with Christmas, these can be themed to your heart's desire, such as 'Disney mum', who kitted her tree out with Mickey Mouse.

?Others give a nod to Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, featuring plenty of Jack Skellingtons, Sallys and other creepy characters from Halloween Town.

While the trend seems to have exploded this year, photos of the creative adornments first started floating around the internet in 2019, and you can bet it's one that won't be going anywhere soon.

Especially as people who really love Halloween, really love Christmas and this is an easy way to slide into an early festive season. ?
