'I couldn't stop bleeding': Hailey Bieber speaks for the first time about frightening post-birth complication
By Amy Lyall|
Just over a year after welcoming her son Jack Blues Bieber into the world, Hailey Bieber has shared frightening new details about the birth.?
The 29-year-old Rhode beauty founder opened up on the SHE MD podcast with Mary Alice Haney and her actual obstetrician Dr. Tha?s Aliabadi about a scary post-birth bleed.?
"So, I pushed the baby out [in] 44 minutes. I was like, 'I did it, I got him out.' And then I couldn't stop bleeding," she said during the podcast episode, which dropped earlier this week.
"I wouldn't have expected that," she added.?
Hailey and her husband Justin welcomed Jack in August 2024, and while she was aware of post-birth haemorrhages she "never thought" it would happen to her.?
"Anything can go sideways when you're having a baby. It's an extremely crazy experience," she explained.?
"But I was bleeding, and I trust Dr. Aliabadi with my lifeกญ I knew she would never let anything get bad for me."

Hailey admitted she was "out of it" during the haemorrhage, so she didn't really know what was going on at the time.?
Eventually she started to "sense the panic in the room" but her medical team reassured her that she was going to be OK.?
Dr Aliabadi explained that postpartum haemorrhage affects two to four per cent of vaginal births and Hailey lost under one litre of blood.
"I was right on the edge," Hailey said of the blood loss.
Dr Aliabadi got the bleeding under control, but Hailey recalled "they wouldn't let me leave" [after the bleed] with her doctor confirming she had to stay in hospital to ensure there weren't going to be further complications.?
But it wasn't just her birth where things took a turn.?
For the first time Hailey admitted her pregnancy with Jack was a surprise, which added a layer of potential issues due to her uterus.?
Hailey has a septum in her uterus and her doctor had told her that it could become an issue if she fell pregnant and it would be something to keep an eye on before trying for a baby.?
She recalled that at the time her doctor explained she might need a small surgery for the septum.?
"And I was like, 'OK. Well, I'm not thinking about getting pregnant right now, so we'll just cross that bridge when we get there.' And then I magically got pregnant," Hailey recalled.?
Dr. Aliabadi then said: 'And then she calls me, and she's like, "I'm pregnant!" And I'm like, "No!"
The condition meant there was a 25 to 40 per cent? risk of miscarriage, and a 10 to 20 per cent risk of pre-term delivery.?
"Which I think was our bigger scare. Because we realised as the baby was growing, the septum it was, you know, expanding. Everything was opening and doing what it needed to do, luckily," Hailey added.
