When searching for the perfect baby name, many parents focus on the pronunciation and popularity of the name and somehow overlook the name's true meaning.
These popular baby names may sound great and be a common choice for mums and dads, however, they have surprisingly unfortunate meanings.
As popular baby name site Nameberry notes, is a name with a bad meaning a dealbreaker for parents? It seems many parents either don't care or aren't aware of the negative connotations.
For example, perennial favourite Emily (and its stylish variant Emilia) mean "rival" or "envious". aemulus.
Kennedy means "misshapen head", while Cameron means "crooked nose".
So check the list from Nameberry, and check it twice, to see if one you're considering is on here.

Claudia is on the no-go list for one member of the Nameberry forum.
"Meanings are really important to me, and no honour or significance would be able to override an unfortunate meaning," they said. "One of my all-time favourites is Claudia (lame, crippled), and the meaning is simply too much for me to use personally."
