Clever way dad sneaks his kids' unwanted crusts back into their meals

By Victoria Owens|

When it comes to feeding the kids, parents will pull out every trick in the book to get them to eat, especially when it comes to foods they normally turn their noses up to.

But one dad has gone viral for sneaking a food his kids "hate" into something they eat without even knowing it.

Steve Devereux, known as @foodmadesimple on Tiktok, has shared his genius parenting hack that transforms unwanted crusts into a snack the kids will devour.

The popular post has been viewed by more than 5.4 million people, most likely parents desperate for new ideas.

"The kids tell me they hate the crusts, but little do they know they usually end up eating the same crusts I cut off their sandwiches later in the day," Devereaux writes.

The cheeky dad shows how he cuts the crusts off his kids' sandwiches, rolls them up into a spiral and presses them down into a cupcake tray as a base.

He then covers them with garlic butter and cheese, before throwing them in the oven to bake in time for the kids to enjoy as an afternoon treat.

"I came up with the idea myself," Devereux tells People.

"My kids don't like the crust, so I am always trying to come up with new ideas on how to use them up."

And parents are applauding his "clever" tactic that also helps reduce food waste.

"You deserve a Nobel prize for this," one commenter wrote.

"I think they're pretending they don't like the crusts so that u make them this yummy snack!" another added.

Another wrote, "This is such a clever idea!!! I'll trick myself next time".

Other followers are crying out for more inspo from the dad.

"Genius! Now what about the end of the loaf that no one eats?", one person writes, while another wants a "Garlic butter tutorial", which Devereaux says is "coming".

In one of his latest video on Instagram, Devereaux turns his kids' unwanted crusts into cheesy waffles.

Can't wait to see what he comes up with next.
