Dad gets hilarious message from Apple Watch when baby daughter cries

By Nikolina Koevska Kharoufeh |

The sound of a crying baby isn't something anyone wants to listen to for too long, and according to this Apple Watch it may actually be bad for your hearing.

A dad on Reddit has posted a hilarious photo of a notification he received the moment his baby started to let out a loud cry - and it's left fellow parents in stitches.

The smart watch picked up the high pitched noise through the in-app feature that measures sound levels throughout the day, warning the dad that it can "cause temporary hearing loss".

In the photo captioned "Thanks, Apple," you can see the little girl in the background laying on a mat crying while the dad checks the notification on his watch.

"Loud Environment. Sound levels hit 90 decibels," the message reads as it warns the dad to remove himself from the situation to avoid any hearing loss.

It claims just 30 minutes at this level can cause temporary hearing issues, information the dad said he would try to relay to his daughter. "I'll let her know," he finished the caption.

In comparison, a sound level reading of 90 decibels is the same volume as a Boeing 737 aircraft right before landing, so the little girl was letting out quite the screech.

Since it was posted the photo has gathered thousands of comments from fellow parents and users who have found themselves in a similar noisy situation with kids.

"At one point, our baby's cries were so loud and shrill that they set off our alarm's glass break sensor," one parent shared on the post.

Another encouraged the dad to look on the bright side: "In 30 mins it'll seem quieter!"
