I?VF has revolutionised fertility since the first baby was born using the technology in 1978.
It's given women and families the ability to become parents, where they may otherwise have ?had to give up on their dreams of starting a family.
But for all the miracles it has delivered, there's also a huge physical and emotional toll. And no guarantee.
And proving that fertility challenges don't discriminate, those in Hollywood are not immune to the challenges.
Here, we take a look at the celebrities who have shared their journeys with IVF, some with great success, others with heartache.

Paris Hilton has shared more details about her parenting journey.
Speaking with Glamour UK, the socialite said she and husband Carter Reum went through the egg retrieval process seven times, resulting in 20 embryos.
"We've done it seven times¡ I have all boys. I have 20 boys," she said.
Hilton also revealed she would really love a girl.
"I just went through the process again a month ago, so I'm waiting for the results to see if there are any girls," she revealed.
The couple welcomed son Phoenix last month, ?via a surrogate and went to extreme measures to keep their pregnancy private.
This includes not telling her mum or their immediate family until a week after his birth, and wearing a disguise to the hospital, where they signed in under a fake name.?
Kourtney Kardashian has been open about IVF journey with husband Travis Barker.
The reality star, 43, and oldest of the Kardashian sisters, began treatment in 2021, but last year announced they had halted this due to the negative impacts it was having on her body.
Kourtney, who is mum to ?Mason, 23, Penelope, 10 and Reign, eight who she shares with ex-husband Scott Disick, told how the treatments had caused her to experience menopause symptoms.
According to Elle, the socialite spoke of her struggles on The Kardashians.
"The fertility journey, Travis and I, we stay in the moment and just do the steps that we need to do," she divulged. "It is nice to hear good news and have some positivity. We love that, but we just wait to hear the final words."
In an Instagram ?story late last year she shared an update saying she was finally getting energy back 10 months after stopping treatments.
C?hrissy Teigen has been very open about her fertility and pregnancy journeys.
The 37-year-old former model turned cookbook author is mum to Luna, ?six, Miles, four and newborn Esti, who she shares with husband John Legend.
The couple also lost their son Jack in 2020, who was born stillborn at 20 weeks.
In an Instagram exchange with fans shortly after Miles was born, Teigen answered questions about her experience.
"I know IVF was used for Luna was it used for baby brother also?" she replied: "Yep, he was on ice a smidge longer. Science and the human body are beautiful."
Teigen also previously revealed she'd tried for many years to conceive before turning to IVF, in a clapback to a troll on Twitter.
"@chrissyteigen did you give it a minute to try naturally or are you avoiding "the act?"," the troll asked.
To which she replied: "Hi Linda, thanks for asking, you complete witch. I tried for about nine years. Anything else, let me know!'."?
In an interview with People, Teigen ?also shared that both Luna and Miles were created at the same time and shared 'the same little petri dish'.
Early last year Teigen also hinted that she was undergoing IVF, posting a photo of needles next to an emojo of crying reproductive organs, saying: "here we go again".
Jessica Rowe has spoken candidly about the challenges she had to overcome to welcome her daughters Allegra, 16, and Giselle, 13.
In an opinion piece for the Sunday Life, the media personality shared the lows of her experience, saying she was shocked to find it so difficult to conceive, and spoke of her journey through IVF.
"The heavy-duty cocktail of hormones I was injecting into my body turned me into a raging lunatic, gave me acne and caused my stomach to bloat. We went through three cycles of treatment and we held our breath every single second of the way," she shared.
"Sometimes my mood was positive while at other times I was full of rage and grief. Everything rested on hormone levels, ultrasounds, how many eggs my weary ovaries could make and if our cells would become embryos.
Despite the hope the treatments offered her, she said she was always aware there was no guarantee it would be successful.?
"You can do the injections, have the blood tests, the ultrasounds, the egg retrievals and the egg transfers, but nothing guarantees that you will have your fairytale ending. I was ready to believe in unicorns if it meant becoming a mother."
A?my Schumer underwent IVF to try to conceive a sibling for her son Gene, three.
The comedian opened up about the physically demanding process to Chelsea Handler on her podcast?, Dear Chelsea.
"I did IVF, we made embryos and I went through the IVF process, which is so hard. People do it so many times. I did it one time and I was like, I'm gonna die. This is awful," she told Handler.
Sharing that 31 eggs were retrieved, she said only one embryo was viable, and this ?did not take.
The Trainwreck star has since undergone a hysterectomy due to severe endometriosis. ?
"So we're gonna have just one child and we're just enjoying our little family and I'm just focusing on that," she continued.
"We tried, but yeah we're just gonna have the one perfect little adorable angel."
I?n her memoir Becoming, Michelle Obama, 59, opened up about her and Barack's fertility journey.
Revealing they'd struggled to fall pregnant, before suffering a miscarriage.
"We were trying to get pregnant and it wasn't going well," she wrote in one passage.
"We had one pregnancy test come back positive, which caused us both to forget every worry and swoon with joy, but a couple of weeks later I had a miscarriage, which left me physically uncomfortable and cratered any optimism we felt."
In an interview with Good Morning America to promote the 2018 book, Obama revealed she underwent IVF to conceive daughters Malia, 24, and Sasha, 21.
Saying she decided to undergo fertility treatment after realising at 34 that her 'biological clock' was real and her 'egg production is limited'..
"I think it's the worst thing that we do to each other as women, not share the truth about our bodies and how they work," she told the show.
Courtney Cox has been open about the challenges she and ex-husband David Arquette faced when trying to conceive.
The Friends star ?used IVF to fall pregnant with her daughter Coco, 18. But faced heartache through much of her fertility journey.
Speaking with Busy Philipps on Busy Tonight, the Scream alumni shared there was a lot of loss before welcoming Coco in 2004.
"I had a lot of miscarriages, and I don't think that's something that people shouldn't talk about, because... it was unfortunate but it happens," she shared.
Tyra Banks did not have a smooth journey to becoming mum to son Banks, now seven. ?
The former supermodel used a surrogate to have York, a decision made after years of IVF attempts.
As she explained in an interview with ET, she felt she waited too long to try for a family.
"I was, you know, doing the rounds and stuff and then I create the embryo and I get the phone call, 'The embryo is not healthy.' You know, 'We can't move forward,' and just, like, just crazy for me - just really, really difficult," she revealed.
"I think I'm lucky, you know, I did it for about a year and a half of IVF and some women do it for years and years and years," she continues. "Unfortunately, I don't have embryos frozen because I want three kids. I think that was the end."
Banks said she could have kept going, but didn't feel it was healthy for her body.
Jennifer Aniston was long the subject of tabloid fodder claiming she was pregnant.
As truth had it, she was undergoing IVF treatment, and the headlines did not help during this emotionally draining period, as she told Allure last year. ?
"It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road," she shared.
"My late 30s, 40s, I'd gone through really hard shit, and if it wasn't for going through that, I would've never become who I was meant to be," she said.

"I would've given anything if someone had said to me, 'Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favor.' You just don't think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed."
Emma Thompson ?underwent IVF before falling pregnant with her daughter Gaia, now 23.
In an interview with the Guardian, Thompson, who also has an adopted son Tindyebwa Agaba Wise?, said she tried to use the fertility treatment to fall pregnant again, trying for three years without success.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, her husband Greg Wise revealed the toll this took on the pair.
"We tried IVF again a few times after having her [Gaia] and it didn't work,' he said.
"IVF is very upsetting. It's a brutal process and it's very emotional. It's really hard. But then you pick yourself up, look around and see this unbelievably beautiful little baby you've got anyway.?"
Brooke Shields used IVF to fall pregnant with her daughter Rowan, now 19.
The pregnancy followed a miscarriage and several unsuccessful rounds of IVF.
?The Blue Lagoon actress also turned to IVF for her second daughter Grier, who she welcomed in 2006.
In her book documenting her struggles with post-partum depression, Down Came the Rain, Shields described the treatments as grueling. ?
"The whole process was quite an ordeal, and we became slaves to the time of day and to little vials of liquid," she said.
Celine Dion tried for six years to fall pregnant with her late husband Ren¨¦ Ang¨¦lil before the couple turned to IVF.

Kristen Wiig has spoken about the emotional rollercoaster she experienced while undergoing IVF.
In an interview with InStyle magazine, ?the Bridesmaids star revealed how challenging she'd found her three year IVF journey with partner Avi Rothman.
"We've been together for about five years [as of interview in 2020], and three of them were spent in an IVF haze. Emotionally, spiritually, and medically, it was probably the most difficult time in my life," she shared.
"I wasn't myself. There are so many emotions that go with it ¡ª you're always waiting by the phone and getting test results, and it was just bad news after bad news. Occasionally there would be a good month, but then it was just more bad news. There was a lot of stress and heartache."
Wiig also described it was 'the most isolating experience', saying she'd had to give herself shots in airplane bathrooms and restaurants.
