What the Queen drinks (and eats) in a day might surprise you

By Claire Knight|

The Queen mother was well known for her love of a tipple, and it appears her daughter has inherited her taste.?

It's been revealed that Elizabeth II drinks not one, not two, not three, but four cocktails a day.

Don't worry, she's hardly drinking on an empty stomach.?

Starting her day with tea and biscuits, our monarch moves on to fruit and cereal (Special K is a favourite), or scrambled eggs with smoked salmon if she's feeling like something more substantial.?

According to The Independent, ?the Queen has a gin before lunch and enjoys the cocktail that her mother made famous.?

"She takes a gin and Dubonnet before lunch, with a slice of lemon and a lot of ice. She will take wine with lunch and a dry Martini and a glass of champagne in the evening," the Queen's cousin, Margaret Rhodes revealed to the newspaper.?

She takes the gin (reportedly Gordon's) mixed with the sweet wine-based aperitif, a slice of lemon (pips removed) and a lot of ice.

HRH reportedly then has a glass of wine to accompany a simple, low-carb lunch (she has a no-starch rule), but also enjoys a sneaky bit of chocolate after her meal. "She loves it," commented Darren McGrady, a former royal chef.

A dry Martini is reportedly prepared for her every evening, however its unknown if she takes it shaken or stirred.?

At dinner, she refuses to eat anything with garlic จC and has reportedly banned it throughout the palace, preferring simple meat and vegetable dishes.?

Her majesty ends her day with a flute of fancy Champagne, the likes of Bollinger, Lanson, and Krug.?

We wouldn't expect anything less.?
