A mystery 'cupid' helped start Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's fairytale love story

Taylor Swift, a multi Grammy Award-winning, history-making billionaire and pop star, certainly has achieved unparalleled greatness in her life.

And now, she's come full circle and found love by literally dating a man on the football team. The Kansas City Chiefs team, to be exact.

Though they have only been together for six months, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's love story has been nothing short of a fairytale.?

When Swift, now 34, was penning the lyrics to her 2008 song Fifteen as a teenager, she couldn't have predicted the insanity her life would soon become.?

Her huge celebrity status has meant the Lavender Haze singer's romantic life has been splashed across the headlines for 15 years. She's dated Harry Styles, Tom Hiddleston, Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner and Jake Gyllenhaal.?

Most recently, the singer was in a long-term relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn.?

Their six-year romance ended in April 2023, not long after Swift kicked off her Eras Tour. Fans mourned the loss for her, vicariously grieving a relationship we mostly knew nothing about.

Swift has been known to pour her heart out in her lyrics, bread-crumbing fans titbits about her personal life through poetic bridges and catchy choruses.

Her romance with Kelce, however, has played out in the most public way possible.

So how did it all begin?

When Swift's single status was confirmed last year, it was time for NFL tight-end Kelce to officially shoot his shot.

The athlete had watched Swift perform her concert at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City in July 2023 and later publicly declared his interest in the singer on his podcast, New Heights.?

He told listeners he tried and failed to meet Swift, revealing he had a friendship bracelet to hand to her.

"I was disappointed that she doesn't talk before or after her shows, because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings," Kelce told his brother and co-host, Jason.

Luckily, this wasn't enough of an obstacle for Kelce. He later revealed on The Pat McAfee show he had "thrown the ball in Swift's court" and invited her to watch him play at Arrowhead.

"I've seen you rock the stage at Arrowhead," he told her. "You might have to come see me rock the stage at Arrowhead and see which one's a little more lit."

In a later interview with WSJ Magazine, Kelce explained how he finally connected with Swift. Somebody in her team had passed on his number and he got an unexpected text.

"She told me exactly what was going on and how I got lucky enough to get her to reach out," he told the publication.

"There were definitely people she knew that knew who I was. I had somebody playing Cupid."

Not long after, Swift was spotted attending her very first Chiefs game in September 2023.

She was sitting in Kelce's suite alongside his mother Donna, dressed in a Chiefs jacket and cheering as he scored a touchdown.

For millions of Swift fans, this appearance was enough to confirm that the pop princess was in a new relationship.

In October, Swift attended another one of Kelce's games with some of her celebrity friends.

That month, the couple hard-launched their romance on Saturday Night Live. They both made surprise appearances on that evening's show.

This opened the floodgates for Swift, who had decided she was ready to be seen in public on dates with Kelce. The pair were papped in New York City out to dinner, again in Missouri and then in Argentina.

Swift kept attending Chiefs games to support her new man, while Kelce was seen at her Eras Tour shows across North America.

By this point, the Fearless singer had kept tight-lipped about her new relationship.

But she finally dished on Kelce while being interviewed for Time Magazine after being named their Person of the Year for 2023.

Swift revealed the pair had been secretly dating for some time before she was seen at a Chiefs game.

"We actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I'm grateful for, because we got to get to know each other," Swift explained.

"I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date."

Swift and Kelce have continued to make football fields the backdrops of their romantic moments ¨C the most iconic of which was at the 2024 Super Bowl.

After the Kansas City Chiefs won, Swift was seen rushing out onto the field to give Kelce a hug and a kiss.

Cameras snapped this moment and the photo was splashed across front pages and news sites around the world.

Of course, for Australian Swifties, this wasn't the end of the 2024 love story just yet.

In late February, Kelce surprised everyone when he jetted Down Under to support Swift at her first Eras Tour show in Sydney.

The couple spent the day before at Sydney Zoo, enjoying the sights and cuddling some wildlife. He was also in the VIP tent bopping along to Swift's music on night one in Sydney,?watching alongside Swift's father, Scott.

During her month-long break between shows in April 2024, insiders have claimed Swift and Kelce will enjoy some downtime in Europe together.

A source told People the couple are "making plans for the summer and are excited to travel together in Europe when Taylor takes her tour there."

Swift's 151-show run will end in Vancouver, British Columbia on December 8, 2024.
