A photo of a pair of dirty 'tradie' shoes left outside of a Subway outlet in Australia is warming hearts around the world.

An appreciative local snapped a photo of the shoes outside the Oxley store in Queensland and shared it on Reddit along with the caption: "Highly respect the tradie who took off his dirty boots before heading into Subway."

Redditers were in overwhelming agreement with the sentiments that were expressed.

Another said: "This is really common in small towns, I see it pretty often, especially in winter. It's usually either farmers or tradies."

One explained: "I work in a workwear and safety shop, I give a sneaky discount to those tradies who take their dirty boots off.

"I have to vacuum the floor after the filthy buggers who trample dirt and mud all through my shop, so I reward the good ones who are respectful."?

Others pointed out the tradie's choice to leave their shoes outside the store may have been risky.

"Don't recommend doing this in all areas," one wrote. "There are certain Subways where if you did this those shoes would vanish in .5 second.?"

"What dumbass leaves them right in front of the door like that?" another said.

Another shared a similar experience that didn't end well, with one pair of boots stolen and another soiled by a cat.

Then there were those who recalled tradies who weren't as considerate of their dirty shoes.

"My general experience of tradies is they don't even take off their dirty boots when walking into your carpeted living room, so hard hats off to this fine gentleman," one said.

"I used to work at a wholesaler tradies would walk mud in all over the carpet despite the sign on the door to remove dirty boots. So I'd charge a $50 cleaning fee to their account. It soon stopped," added one Redditer.

Although one fellow tradie said: "Good on them, but I'm not leaving my $230 boots outside for someone to pinch. Especially on apprentice wages."

"I wonder whether the cookie smell will overpower tradie foot smell," one joked.
