"That is so sweet on so many levels," wrote another. "It is adorable that she wrote a note. It is so sweet and precious that she asked that way. It is amazing and precious that she trusts you guys enough to ask."

One Redditer shared their own story of creating a blended family, explaining his stepchildren who are aged seven and six still have a good relationship with their biological father, and he and his partner have a young child together aged 3.

"When the little one was born and the middle one asked me if she can call me dad now, it melted my heart," he shared.

Although not everyone was charmed by the story.

With little family history to go by, one Redditer questioned the choice, asking if the little girl's biological mother was still in the picture, and if she is, then he shouldn't let his daughter call his girlfriend mum.

?"Letting your daughter call your gf mum is undermining her relationship with her real mum," he suggested.

"Obviously there are exceptions, but as general m rule of thumb a significant other shouldn't be put forward as a replacement for their real mum/dad."

Another Redditer agreed, adding, "I don't think many mums would be totally cool with that. Yes to the amazing bond they share but mum is กญ mum."?
