BBC news presenter Lukwesa Burak caught stretching during live TV broadcast blunder

A?n awkward silence filled the airwaves this morning as BBC presenter Lukwesa Burak accidentally bared her armpits while stretching live on air.

Burak had just bookended a segment with the words "Around the world and across the UK, this is BBC News", looking forward to a well-needed stretch after a long time sitting perfectly poised behind the news desk.

But a broadcast blunder saw the BBC's "Across the UK"? banner only light up the screen for a couple of seconds before Burak had appeared once again, mid-stretch with her arms up, her armpits on full display.

She reacted in shock before quickly composing herself again, looking down and fighting back a smile until her cue? began again a good 30 seconds later, where she was back to business delivering the news.

The clip was posted to Twitter, with commenters reacting to the mishap, sharing that it was "Quite the surreal minute on the BBC News Channel just now".

"Brilliant, we are all human after all!" said Deputy Lyndon Farnham, Deputy of the States of Jersey in the UK.

"Your PSA that if you are sitting at a desk for long periods, be sure to stretch. Classy as ever!" said another fan.

"Love her even more for this," added Yeliz Prior, Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation at Salford University.

"I did wonder if my TV had frozen," one viewer shared.

"We've all had a rogue opts or tech gremlins, just not all of us would have handled it as professionally as the brilliant Lukwesa Burak," said fellow BBC newscaster, Kasia Madera.

Burak responded with grace to the Twitter responses with, "Thank you folks: Colleagues - present & former, and all you wonderful viewers."
